Highfield Trinity Methodist Church, Sheffield
Highfield Trinity Church has been left largely untouched for many years. The current church committee have invested time and money in looking to refurbish the church to ensure its condition for many years to come.
The major works to the church were carried out in 2 phases, firstly involving extensive stone masonry work to the spire and the second phase to renew all the roof coverings and improve the internal finishes.
artin-Brooks were appointed as Principal Contractor for the roofing phase which also encompassed further stone work, renewal of stained glass windows, introduction of a new internal glazed wall and redecoration of the main body of the church.
The works involved several months of clearly co-ordinated works involving 6 specialist contractors. The roofs are a very steep 55° pitch with a 10 metre spar length which was a real challenge for the slaters involved.
The whole interior of the main body of the church was re-plastered as necessary with a lime based plaster and then painted with a special Classidur paint finish. These internal works included the introduction of a new glazed screen to the North wall to allow daylight to enter through the main windows and give natural light to the church.
