Sheffield-based roofing specialist, Martin-Brooks, will be going head to head with Yorkshire’s top building subcontractors as they bid for a prestigious safety award.
Martin-Brooks is being entered into the regional round of VINCI Construction UK’s Contractor of the Month competition, after winning March’s prize for its work at Stocksbridge High School.
The award recognises the high standards of safety practised by Martin-Brooks, whilst carrying out roof repairs on the north Sheffield school. VINCI Construction UK scores its subcontractors on all aspects of health and safety and announces a monthly winner. These contractors are put forward to regional heats to determine the finalists of the national competition, which will be drawn at the end of the year.
Dale Wright, Martin-Brooks’ contracts director, said: “In our industry, following the correct health and safety procedures is absolutely essential if we are to ensure no harm comes to our team or those living and working around us. It is, therefore, very gratifying to have our efforts at Stocksbridge recognised by VINCI Construction UK and we are looking forward to the regional heats of this highly regarded competition.”
Martin-Brooks is working closely with VINCI Construction UK at a number of sites around South Yorkshire, as part of the Building Schools for the Future project.
Craig Peace, VINCI Construction UK’s project manager at Stocksbridge High School, added: “Construction sites are dangerous places, but contractors working at height have added pressure to ensure safety procedures are followed, as the consequences can be fatal. Martin-Brooks’ employees always conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism. They are excellent ambassadors for safe working and deserving winners of our Contractor of the Month award.”
