Sheffield roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, is rewarding the hard work of its two youngest staff members by offering them permanent positions with the firm.
Brent Elliot and Harvey Stephenson have secured their future with Martin-Brooks, following the successful completion of apprenticeships in slate and flat roofing respectively.
Both apprentices were recruited by the firm two years ago as 16-year old school leavers. Brent has joined the pitched roofing team with whom he trained, having secured an National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level two in roof slating and tiling from Leeds College of Building and Construction. He has now decided to continue his studies to NVQ level three, supported by Martin-Brooks.
Harvey completed a built up felt roofing NVQ level two at the National Construction College in Kings Norton, Birmingham, which combined practical learning with three week blocks of fulltime study. He is now working with the firm’s flat roofing team.
Martin-Brooks director, Nick Brooks, said: “We pride ourselves on maintaining close links with the local community through our workforce and Harvey and Brent are no exception, both living within a mile of our Darnall premises. They have made excellent progress throughout their apprenticeships and have shown a willingness to learn on the job and in the classroom. We have no doubt they will continue to develop under the supervision of our highly skilled roofers and will become valued members of staff.”
