Congratulations to local youth theatre group, Splinters, for its show stopping production of Rent – all that practise at our training centre clearly paid off!
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Splinters performed the New York-based rock opera at Sheffield’s iconic Crucible theatre. The musical was a huge hit, thanks to the hard work put in by cast and crew at our Roofco premises in Attercliffe where rehearsals took place.
When we heard the group needed somewhere large enough to erect the Rent set – without the added burden of actual rent – we opened our doors to Splinters, enabling the multi-level staging to be built out in a suitable space.
Splinters’ director, Ian Walker, said: “This show was possibly the hardest (but most rewarding) I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with. We could never have achieved such outstanding results without Martin-Brooks’ generous offer and the Roofco Centre really did become a new home for us.”
We are extremely proud to have made such an important contribution to this invaluable community organisation and we wish Splinters every success in future productions. For more information, visit www.SplintersTheatre.co.uk
