Leadwork
We are renowned for our expertise in leadwork and regularly run workshops for fellow trades people and interested members of the public.
A number of our employees are trained to the highest level and we are committed to preserving this traditional skill, which is in rapid decline.
On residential properties, lead is most commonly used to clad bay tops and dormers or for flashings – the water-resistant barrier installed to protect joints where the roof meets the house. You may also find you have lead lining parapets and valley gutters, or along ledges and cornice.
Our skilled roofers are hugely knowledgeable in the application of lead and their experience ranges from traditional bossing techniques, to modern welding methods and dressing rolled sheets.
Design and specification
Many of our clients have come to rely on our design, specification and installation services, which ensure total compliance with the relevant Lead Sheet Association guidelines and codes of practice.
We install more than 100 tonnes of lead each year, ranging from decorative finials to bespoke rainwater goods and ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the necessary safety requirements. This includes health screenings for employees who work with lead.
Our surveyors and management team have all undertaken leadwork training and can advise on specification or lead alternatives, if theft is a concern. For more information, speak to our experts on (0114) 244 7720 or email us via the contact us page.
