A talented trainee from Sheffield roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, has reached the finals of a competition celebrating the achievements of local learners in a variety of skills and trades.
Korneliusz Kasa is shortlisted in the Construction and Technical category of the Sheffield City Council Apprenticeship Awards 2018.
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony held at Sheffield Town Hall on July 17. Martin-Brooks’ managing director, John Elmore, will accompany Korneliusz to the event, at which the firm will also receive a certificate of commendation for having a shortlisted apprentice.
Martin-Brooks nominated Korneliusz to recognise his willingness to learn and enthusiasm for his role at the firm. He is currently undertaking a roofing apprenticeship with Sheffield College and is expected to complete his NVQ level two in just 18 months – a target he has set himself.
John Elmore said: “From day one, Korneliusz has been a breath of fresh air. He has grasped the opportunity to grow with both hands and has given us the confidence to trust him with responsibilities we wouldn’t normally assign to someone so young, such as driving our vans. We require the highest standards of professionalism from all staff and he has exceeded our expectations, giving 100% in all aspects of the job.”
The Apprenticeship Awards are being organised by the council’s employment and skills service, Opportunity Sheffield. Categories include: Office (Business Administration), Office (IT and Housing), Hospitality and Care, Early Years and Education and Construction and Technical.
