A member of the back-office team at roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, is fronting the firm’s latest fundraising campaign, as he prepares to take on the Sheffield 10k.
Buyer, Ben Elmore, will line up alongside thousands of runners from across the city to raise funds for Cavendish Cancer Care, one of Martin-Brooks’ nominated charities.
Held on Sunday, September 23, the Sheffield 10k will be Ben’s first official race, having started training several months ago. He has already surpassed his sponsorship target, raising £320 to date, but is hoping friends and colleagues will continue to donate.
Cavendish Cancer Care is one of six local charities with whom Martin-Brooks has a longstanding relationship, having donated more than £25,000 over the last eight years. It works to improve the quality of life for people with cancer, providing emotional support through counselling and complementary therapies.
Ben said: “Having lived and worked in Sheffield for most of my life, I appreciate the vital support that the dedicated team at Cavendish provides to local residents. I wanted to take on this 10k challenge not only to fulfil a personal goal, but also to raise much appreciated funds. Everyone is touched by cancer in some way and through Martin-Brooks’ relationship with the charity, we have seen first hand how our efforts, however small, can have a positive impact.”
